I recently received a complimentary copy of The Guardian by Beverly Lewis. I was a little nervous going into this book, because it is book 3 in the Home to Hickory Hollow series, and I haven't read any of the other books in the series. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything by not reading the first two books in the series. At times, I even forgot that this was the third book in a series.
I really enjoyed the story line of this book. I find the Amish culture to be fascinating, and I believe Beverly Lewis really has a great way of giving her readers a peek into their lives. The story is about a young, teacher and Englisher (non-Amish person), Jodi. She finds herself involved with a widow, Maryanna, and her Amish family, after finding their lost daughter. Jodi is struggling with her faith after the loss of her sister, and is questioning how a loving God can let bad things happen to good people. Maryanna and her family help her with her struggling faith, and maybe find and nurture some romance along the way.
