Taken - By: Dee Henderson

I recently received a complimentary copy of Taken written by Dee Henderson from Bethany House. I was sooooo super excited to see a book by Dee Henderson on the list of available books, because she's one of my favorite Christian authors. The O'Malley series will always be one of my favorite series. Most of her books are mysteries, or involve some sort of suspense typically, rather than the normal Christian romance, though her books do normally include romance. That being said, this book was not one of my favorites. I found it interesting, don't get me wrong, but there wasn't the normal amount of suspense/intrigue involved in this book and I just felt like it was really long with not really a lot going on.

This book is about Shannon Bliss, who has been missing for 10 years. She randomly shows up on Matthew Dane's doorstep and confides in him, who she is. Shannon picked Matthew because of his experience as a former cop, and now private detective, and also because he daughter had previously been kidnapped and recovered. Little by little, Shannon starts opening up to Matthew about who her captives were and how she remained herself through the entire situation by relying on God to sustain her. Matthew is able to keep watch over Shannon and help her through this situation due to his influence and friendship with high ranking officials in the FBI and connections from his former position as a police officer.

If she continues with this storyline, I will probably continue to read, because I did enjoy the book and the characters in it. I just was expecting more from this book, since the rest of her books have always had some kind of interesting peak to them. This book didn't have that, and just kinda dragged on (over 400 pages - a long book for Ms. Henderson).
